Monday
Postnatal Yoga - (Bring Your Baby!)
1hr 1.30pm-2.30pm
Church of The Nazarene - Meersbrook
These classes incorporate simple breath-work and movement to soften and enliven. These classes provide space to connect with your body, relieve some of the bodily stresses of motherhood and, perhaps, provide some humour and good company too.
Who is it for?
This class is for all in the early stages of motherhood and you are welcome to come with or without your baby.
A few things to remember:
It doesn't matter if you're late, dishevelled, knackered, nervous, worried, stress, joyful, happy - just bring yourself exactly as you are.
There is plenty of space to bring your baby into the room if they're in a pram - you can take them out/walk around with them/keep them in - honestly whatever they and you need.
Your baby may cry! For the whole class! That's ok!
We chat, laugh and move in this class. It's very relaxed.
Practical things:
Entrance is on Northcote road and there is on street parking.
Tea and earthy snacks will be waiting for you on arrival

Workshops and Courses
Pregnancy Yoga Course
Pregnancy Yoga Course at Grow Yoga
Running for 5 weeks from the 7th March 6-7.30pm
FULLY BOOKED
FULLY BOOKED
This is a rich and in-depth course full of helpful information about pregnancy and how we can use mindfulness, relaxation, yoga, breathwork and myofascial release to support the body not only through pregnancy but in the birth of your baby and beyond. The course is suitable for beginners to yoga.
Key themes will include:
Deep Rest - leaning into rest through yoga nidra, creating 'nests' to support the body and allow the parasympathetic nervous system to come to the fore.
Intuition - learning to listen to the body's intuition through body awareness, sensing and noticing. Through mindfulness practices we will be meeting you and your body where it is each day.
Emotions - We'll be working at an embodied level with anxiety, low mood, restlessness, exhaustion, worry, joy and bliss. We'll be cultivating connection to ourselves and others.
Yoga and Traditional Chinese Medicine - We'll be working with the five elements through acupressure and yoga and looking at how the wisdom of TCM can nourish us in pregnancy and beyond.
Breath - we'll be working with breath practices to release tension in the body and to help ease baby's passage - as well as help us connect with our emotions.
Voice - we'll be unleashing the voice and looking at how sound, and the sounds we naturally make in birth, can help release fear and tension.
Birth Biomechanics - we'll be moving to optimise baby's position in the third trimester and ease the baby's journey through the pelvis. We'll be freeing the pelvis, working with imbalance, maintaining strength and mobility and feeling how it is connected to the whole body such as the feet, jaw, breath and posture.
Body Support - releasing tension in the upper back, shoulders and lower back and looking at the emotional anatomy behind some of our tensions - how we can ask for support and how we receive help.
Touch - self massage, supportive holds and looking at how touch can directly talk to our nervous system and support us, and our babies, in pregnancy and beyond. We'll also be looking at what postpartum support we may need.
Closing circle and ceremony - the final session will involve a closing circle of connection, embodied practice, breath, poetry, nidra and rest.

A Weekend Workshop with Independent Midwife Phoebe Pallotti and Pregnancy Yoga Teacher Alex Newton
I am so excited to offer this weekend workshop with my good friend Phoebe - an Independent Midwife based here in Sheffield. Phoebe has been a qualified midwife for 16 years and has worked in large teaching hospitals, small district hospitals and has spent several years working abroad. She’s incredibly warm and welcoming as well as being hugely knowledgeable. She has supported many LGBTQIA+ families, neurodiverse families and also has a decade of experience in active allyship in anti-racism in pregnancy and birth services. You can read more about Phoebe here https://www.phoebethemidwife.org/about.
Phoebe will be our birth rights and midwidery guide and I’ll be supporting with movement, body centric practices and supporting deep rest and relaxation. This is an embodied workshop and we will be working with all of this rich information and knowledge by dropping into our bodies, leaning into our needs and our courage to voice them; how it feels to have them heard and how it feels to be in community with each other.
This is a pilot weekend for us so it will be a very small group that we are welcoming and we’ll be working at a reduced price. With such a small group we’ll be able to really delve into each topic.
Where is it?
This is an opportunity to delve into all things birth in a cosy home setting - my home here in Meersbrook! We’ll be predominantly chatting, moving and resting in my small home studio at the top of the house but we’ll have the whole house for the weekend to use - we’ll have a delicious vegan lunch together and provide nourishing snacks and hydrating and soothing teas throughout the weekend as well. If it’s a nice weekend we may be able to venture out into the garden too. I hope you can make yourself at home for the weekend.
